We're Still Alive!

I have been too swamped to try posting.  A few highlights:

• I'm back at work, starting today.  I have no recollection of most of what I'm supposed to be doing.  Luckily, my colleagues will continue to cover for me for a week or so, until I get back on my feet.
• Vindya started pre-school on Monday.  She's attending the same Chinese language pre-school that LiJun attended.  She LOVES it.  She wakes me up every morning asking, "School?  Yay, school!"  She told me that they eat three times a day!  Plus, toys!  An outdoor playground with cool equipment!  Other children!  Babies!  She's flat out in heaven.  She's also starting to speak Chinese.  I used to worry that she might be developmentally disabled.  Now I worry that she's going to be off the charts smart.
• We got Maui back yesterday.  He was, at best, indifferent to my arrival.  I abandoned him, and both of the families who have kept him fed him much more than I do.  He also had girl dogs to adore at his most recent home.  Despite this, he's gotten back into the swing of things pretty well.  Vindya totally freaked out at the sight of him last night, but this morning she made a point of petting him and telling me that she wasn't crying.
• Vindya adores LiJun, who can do no wrong.  LiJun sometimes adores Vindya.  She dresses her up like a little doll, and enjoys teaching her things.  Unless she wants her dead.  Luckily, those times are less frequent as time goes on.
• As things get calmer (school starts after Labor Day) I'll try to post more frequently.
