The weekend (especially Sunday) was very busy. Rufus finally took us out to see "the real India." He clearly loves it out there, but honestly, I was horrified. The people were very nice, but the level of poverty left me sick to my stomach. I couldn't even take pictures, because I felt like a "poverty tourist" or some such. More detail later, but I can see why people leave the country for city slums.
I spent some time yesterday (Monday) arguing with the adoption people, and they said I should come this morning around 11. Allegedly, I'll get the letter allowing me to go to Chennai. They insist that the court order will come tomorrow or Thursday. Deb called me, and I expressed skepticism that this was true. She suggested asking them why they think that, which is a good idea. (I don't want to say flat out that I don't believe them, but they have said this pretty much every time I have asked.)
Also, my friend Nirmala sent me contact information for her sister in Chennai, so I have another contact there, in addition to Deb's friend.
I'm very tired, I miss LiJun, and I really want to come home. Otherwise, I'm fine.
