Things are Better

OK, everyone, thanks for the support. I am calmer today. I contacted Deb, and she is trying to see what she can do from that end. Also, Vindya and I spent the day being very low key, and I was able to see that things are improving with her.

When she is not freaking out, she is very silly, funny and happy. I can see improvement in her skills since I have been here. In the sticker books, she is quickly finding where the stickers go, and understands that the pictures should line up with the rest of the page. She still doesn't have the fine motor skills to get them quite right, but I'm hopeful that will come with time. The key is that she gets the idea. She has obviously never eaten with silverware before, but she is trying. She has the grip down, and is just working on controlling the trajectory of the food. I noticed as we were walking around that she is able to go up and down stairs fairly easily while holding my hand. Only a week or so ago, she almost fell because they were so unfamiliar.

She also didn't have a breakdown at all yesterday, which I think is a good sign. We went out for a bit, just to break up the day and pick up a few items. She asked for ice cream, and I told her to wait. She started crying - a low droning noise with tears running down her cheeks. I ignored it, and she held my hand and walked with me nicely on the rest of our errands. She was totally the center of attention from everyone we went past. People stared, pointed, and discussed her. Several people walked up and started talking to her. She didn't respond to them, just pushed closer to me. No one talked to me, so I didn't explain anything to anyone.

My plans for today are to go and see Cars 2 in about an hour, and then go to the Lutheran church this evening. (The service is at 8pm, according to their website. I should probably try to call them and verify that.) Naturally, Vindya just started crying again, really hard. I think it's because I'm typing instead of paying attention to her, but who knows.

I'm going to see if we actually get the court order tomorrow before I decide what to do next.

  1. I am glad things are starting to look up for you. I cannot imagine the frustration, but it will be worth it, I am sure.
